Archictectural

This Section is Under Construction. Thank You For Your Patience.

Over the last three decades my work has revolved around sign, symbol, allegory, and architecture. I have gravitated to many historical, social, spiritual references found in both architecture and monuments. In trying to understand the power these spaces and buildings possesses and provide, I have been drawn to many subjects; the reverent, integral to the social rituals of the Masonic Temple, and the drama found in opposing elements of classical form and industrial function in the buildings at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Along with these investigations I have been inspired by the renovations in community at the Temple B' Nai Jeshurun and the State Capital located in Des Moines. I have had the opportunity to draw from villas and churches in Northern Italy and experienced the visual irony from the coliseum in Rome. My interest is not in the idea of romaticizing structures two-dimensionally but rather the subconscious impact architecture can stimulate as subjects for painting and drawing.
